I founded my company in 2005 after hearing how my pregnant friends complained about their giant prenatal vitamins. We dreamed of giving women better options vitamins. So today I’m taking courses to make the admiration of business easier and more fun.

BusinessConstantly I realize that there are things I wish I knew before. Owning a small business is challenging, but there are six tips that will make the journey easier:

1. Follow your passion and do not let go: Your business probably came from something you love, but over time, the day to day business will make it harder to keep that passion alive. Feed it every day to remind you why you started. Be sure to fall in love with a problem, not the solution. If the first step does not work, remember what you love to find another solution for your client.

2. Money is king: Having a business is an art and a science. The art is your passion. Science is your business model . Make sure you understand your business model, is not something that can happen to someone else. Know when the money goes in and out is essential for success. If you know how the business works, you can celebrate your success or plan more money.

3. Hire intelligently: Hire a team is exciting, but scary. Take time to choose the right people for the job. Despicable fast if they do things right. As a small business owner, you can do anything, but you can not do everything! The people you hire should love what you hate doing so that you can focus on your dream and your passion evangelize.

4. Communicate with your partners: This is a great way to attract additional talent to grow the business, but together, as in a marriage, it is critical to know communicate your values and expectations.

Creates a “prenuptial agreement” business. As in any relationship, have appointments in the evenings and remember why you started this business together / as first. You can use this opportunity to have a brainstorm or talk about problems in a less stressful way.

5. Protect yourself from the unexpected: Think about the obstacles that you can go through. Hope for the best but be prepared for these setbacks. It is normal to pass things you can not control. Do what you can to protect you. Applied systems and processes in your business so you can have holiday time with your children. Make sure things do not get out of hand if you’re not presence. Respect yourself enough to make sure you can take care of you out of business.

6. The responsibility is yours but … do not have to do it alone / a! As a boss, may be making all the decisions alone. Ask for help. Not everyone has the courage to start a business, but most people will want to help. Learn from other entrepreneurs. Those who have some years of experience can give you good advice. Someone just starting out can give you energy and creative ideas. The best advice I have received is from other entrepreneurs.

Having your own business is one of the most exciting and challenging adventures have. Beware while setting the tone and the corporate culture . Protect yourself to make sure your business survives the ups and downs. Take the time to plan it so you can keep doing what you love.
